This wonderful estate is home to an iconic medieval tower that belies the modern value spot it has become in this famous Graves landscape. Packed with dark fruits and complex structure, the Latour Martillac is a fine prospect for medium and long term cellaring. Unlike other retailers (who charge a second payment on arrival), our En Primeur prices are the total and final landed cost, including GST. Its Origins
Chateau Latour Martillac is one of the most recognizable chateaux in Pessac Leognan. This is because of the famous tower that rests in front of the chateau. In fact, the tower is where the property found the first part of its name. While the property was first developed in the 12th century, the tower is the only section from the original, small, fortified castle. The modern era here begins in the early 1940s. At that point in time, the vineyards were increased in size. Much of the new land was devoted to red wine grapes. In 1955 Jean Kressman became the owner of LaTour Martillac. He managed it for his father starting in 1940. Today, two of Jean Kressman’s sons, Tristan Kressman and Loic Kressman, manage the Bordeaux property. (Jeff Leve)

“Deeply colored, initially you notice, dried roses, blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, pepper, and 5 spice on the nose. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine is packed with layers of creamy, elegant, ripe, dark, red fruits with hints of pepper and even some cocoa that comes in at the end of the long, plummy finish. This should age quite nice well, yet be approachable young. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. 14.5% ABV, pH 3.73.
