2023 Squawking Magpie Reserve Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Grape
Sauvignon Blanc
Its Origins
Squawking Magpie Owner and Director Gavin Yortt planted the main Woodland’s vineyard in 1995, with further holdings in 2002 extending the focus on Hawkes Bay classic grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. They are members of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand and maintain a strong focus on cellaring wines and a quality-driven (rather than brand-driven) market strategy, which begins with rigorous vineyard management. Though not shouting from every shelf, on quality-for-value Squawking Magpie wines are often among the best Hawkes Bay has to offer.
What The Critics Say
93/100 and Buy of the Week, Bob Campbell MW
"Punchy, vibrant Marlborough sauvignon blanc with passionfruit, capsicum, gooseberry and oyster shell flavours. Delicious wine, the perfect antidote to excessively hot weather. 24 JAN 2024." Drink 2024 - 2027
5 Stars and #3 Spot on Cuisine's Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc (2018 vintage)
"Delicious aromas of snow peas and citrus blossom announce this wine. The mid-palate is generous, yet the wine retains freshness with a well-managed zesty and flinty structure that nicely complete the package."
