Its Origins
Azienda Agricola Conterno Fantino was established in 1982 by Guido Fantino and Claudio Conterno. The state-of-the art winery is located on top of a hill overlooking the old village of Montforte d'Alba, enjoying an extraordinary view stretching out around the arc of Alps. Conterno Fantino's range comprises a Barolo DOCG from Sori Ginestra, and several DOC wines from Langhe, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d' Alba and a mono-varietal wine (Chardonnay). The style of their Barolo is modern, showing rich aromas and flavours, lush, soft texture and well-rounded tannins.

"The 2021 Langhe Rosso Monprà, Conterno-Fantino's Nebbiolo/Barbera blend, is gorgeous. Crushed rose petal, dark red/purplish fruit, lavender and mint are all beautifully delineated in an understated, classy Monprà that overdelivers. This sort of blend is a rarity now, but this is one of the few that remains quite distinctive. In fact, the 2021 is one of the best recent editions I can remember tasting." Drink 2024 - 2033

"A blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo, the Conterno Fantino 2021 Langhe Rosso Monprà carries a lot of old-fashioned oak toast with roasted coconut, allspice and lots of very concentrated and thickly ripened black fruit. This wine shows broad shoulders and exacts a thick footprint on the palate. It's a throwback wine that embraces a style that takes you back to the 1980s. The two grapes are fermented and aged separately before blending. Only 5,200 bottles exist." Drink 2024 - 2036
