2021 Langmeil Valley Floor Barossa Shiraz

Its Origins
Once a trading village established in 1842, this remarkable place is a captivating pocket of Australia’s wine and vine history that is a must when visiting the Barossa. Owned by the Lindner family, whose own mark on the Barossa spans six-generations of farming, food, community and wine, Langmeil is renowned for its preservation of old vines and the making of distinguished wines from these cherished sites. At the pinnacle of its winemaking is The Freedom 1843 Shiraz, made from what is understood to be the world’s oldest surviving shiraz vineyard believed planted in 1843 at the heart of this historical patch of Barossa earth.
What The Critics Say
92/100 The Real Review, Stuart Knox
"Deep ruby red with mulberry, coffee, and vanilla bean aromatics. Classic blue and purple fruits fill the mouth, its full bodied and weighty but ample dark mineral savouries ensure it shows character and balance. Tannins have a gravelly edge to them that accentuates the savouries, and it ensures line and length to the flow. Good value and will reward cellaring 08 FEB 2023." Drink 2023 - 2033
93/100 The Wine Front, Gary Walsh (2018 vintage)
"Here we go. Tasted alongside the 2017, and more to my tastes, although that kind of does not come into assigning a score to an extent. Anyway, I reckon this would get the popular vote. The classic generosity of Barossa flavour on show here. Plum, chocolate, vanilla and some toasted coconut, slight sage and mint perfume. Full-bodied, but smooth and supple, even flow of flavour, fine powdery tannin, nice long succulent salted plum and berry stuff to close. This will be well received by many."
