2022 Clos St Antonin Cotes du Rhone
Grape
Usually 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah
Its Origins
This is a new project of Isabelle Sabon and her father, Aimé, of Domaine de la Janasse, who purchased this 15 hectare domain in 2014. The estate, itself, is located in Jonquières just north of Courthézon. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape will be made from fruit drawn from two hectares of vines in the prime La Crau and Font du Loup vineyards, which were part of Domaine de la Janasse. Those holdings are being folded into Clos St.-Antonin in anticipation of the usual French succession issues that will ensue when Isabelle and her brother, Christophe, take over Domaine de la Janasse from their father.
What The Critics Say
91/100 James Suckling (2020 vintage)
"Aromas of dark cherries, dark chocolate, mocha and tapenade. Medium body with fine tannins. Round and fruity with good volume and balance, and a juicy finish. Drink now."
90/100 Jeb Dunnuck (2020 vintage)
"All the 2020s showed beautifully at this address. Black raspberries, peppery herbs, garrigue, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2020 Côtes Du Rhône, a medium-bodied, rich, structured wine that has plenty of structure and depth. It will keep for 4-6 years."
