Its Origins

The Haag family has been in wine for just a little while - since 1605, to be precise - and over that time they have been instrumental in the development of Brauneberger, an area that has been recognised as one of the Mosel’s best since the sixth century. At the helm today is the youthful Oliver Haag, whose father Wilhelm (son of Fritz) became recognised as a Riesling world leader, awarded the deceptively simple title of Winegrower of the Year in 1994. Oliver himself has at his back a full oenological training as well as extensive experience with a number of leading Riesling producers. With results so superb they effectively define a modern classic style of Mosel Riesling, it seems clear that the Haag family’s future in wine may be as sure as it’s past.

What The Critics Say

96/100 JamesSuckling.com, Stuart Pigott

“All the floral beauty and filigree of this great site are packed into a sleek silhouette. Wonderfully racy and vibrant, this youthful dry Mosel masterpiece barely weighs in as medium-bodied, but is incredibly expressive. Then comes the amazingly long, deep and delicate wet stone finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.”

95/100 Vinous, Anne Krebiehl MW

"The 2023 Riesling Brauneberger Juer Sonnenuhr Grosses Gewächs comes from vines between 35 and 80 years old. Gentle reduction adds a inty note to the nose, while the palate is superbly light and bright. Subtle yet vividly pure orange peel colors the elongated palate, lling it with aromatic zestiness. This wine is elegant, slender and pure in equal measure." Drink 2026 - 2060

17++/20 JancisRobinson.com, Paula Sidore

"Delicate herbal start. An elegant citrus lining with notes of wet stone and tea leaves. Denser and grippier than the Juffer. Complex and stony, with a long, saline finish. Needs time." Drink 2026 - 2036
