2022 Les Cruzelles Lalande de Pomerol En Primeur
En Primeur product: order now for arrival mid 2025. Les Cruzelles is owned by Denis Durantou and located within sight from his famous Pomerol estate, L'Eglise Clinet. As a big sibling to the super-value La Chenade (also grown on the estate), the Les Cruzelles Grand Vin offers serious depth and potential as a result of the rich, Pomerol-like soils of clay and gravel. A serious prospect for what seems like a strategically low pricing, the undervalued Les Cruzelles is a wine to watch. Unlike other retailers (who charge a second payment on arrival), our En Primeur prices are the total and final landed cost, including GST. With the changing economic situation and foreign exchange risk, we do this to ensure you have complete certainty over what you will pay.

Mostly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc
Its Origins
Chateau Les Cruzelles in Lalande de Pomerol is owned by Denis Durantou, who purchased Chateau Les Cruzelles in 2000 and is better known for owning one of the top estates in Pomerol, Chateau LEglise Clinet. Located in the commune of Neac, not far from his Pomerol estate, the terroir of Chateau Les Cruzelles shares many similarities in terroir with his Pomerol chateau, due to its rich, clay and gravel soil. The 10 hectare vineyard of Chateau Les Cruzelles is planted to 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. This could be the highest proportion of Cabernet Franc in the appellation of Lalande de Pomerol. There is a second wine, Chateau La Chenade. The grapes for La Chenade comes from a combination of the estate’s young vines and the vines planted in the terroir with more sand and gravel, as well as from purchased fruit. La Chenade also includes more Cabernet Franc in the blend to give it more structure. La Chenade is aged in an average of 25% new, French oak barrels. On average, the production of Chateau Les Cruzelles is close to 1,200 cases of wine per vintage.
What The Critics Say
93-94/100 James Suckling
"A solid red with blackberry, chocolate, walnut and hazelnut. Medium to full body. Smiley face here, thanks to the ripe seeds."
92-94/100 Vinous, Neal Martin
"The 2022 Les Cruzelles was picked between 1 and 12 September and matured in 50% new oak. This has plenty of fruité on the nose: small red cherries, redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, a touch of cedar in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with wonderful definition and mineralité, dark fruit, hints of black tea and spices, really harmonious and sappy on the finish. Possibly the best Les Cruzelles that I have tasted at this stage and sure to be an unbeatable value-for-money." Drink 2028 - 2050
92-94/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
"The 2022 Les Cruzelles is a wine of notable breadth and texture. Older vines and clay-rich soils yield a Lalande de Pomerol that offers notable resonance. Dark-toned fruit, leather, tobacco, incense, licorice and lavender infuse the 2022 with considerable nuance to match its virile, rather somber feel." Drink 2025 - 3037
