2022 Montlandrie Cotes de Castillon En Primeur

94 Points James Suckling
In stock

En Primeur product: order now for arrival mid 2025. A great addition to the range from Durantou, which was purchased and developed by the family since 2009. Montlandrie is drawn from a single block grown on a high plateau much like the prized terroir in St Emilion. Considered a star of the rising Cotes de Castillon appellation, the Montlandrie is fantastic drinking at this price. Unlike other retailers (who charge a second payment on arrival), our En Primeur prices are the total and final landed cost, including GST. With the changing economic situation and foreign exchange risk, we do this to ensure you have complete certainty over what you will pay.

$60.00 per bottle

Grape

75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon

Its Origins

Montlandrie was purchased in 2009 by Denis Durantou, the owner of Chateau LEglise Clinet in Pomerol, Chateau Montlandrie dates back to the late 1800s when the Right Bank property was founded by an Italian family. Chateau Montlandrie stands out due to the ancient stone tower located in the middle of the vineyards. Chateau Montlandrie is the first purchase in the Cotes de Bordeaux appellation by Denis Durantou. Aside from his famous Pomerol property, he also owns vines in St. Emilion with Chateau Saintayme and in Lalande de Pomerol with Chateau Les Cruzelles and Chateau Chenade. (Wine Cellar Insider)

What The Critics Say

93-94/100 James Suckling

"Sea salt and grilled sea weed. Dark fruit, but so umami. Medium to full body with fine and chewy tannins. Crunchy."

92-94/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Montlandrie is a powerful, driving wine. Beams of tannin and acid run through a core of bright red-toned fruit, lending notable energy and tension throughout. A wine of size and volume, Montlandrie offers tremendous intensity as well as vibrancy. Gorgeous." Drinking 2025 - 2037

92-94/100 The Wine Independent, Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"A blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2022 Montlandrie has a deep garnet-purple color. It comes bounding out with eager-to-please notes of wild blueberries, kirsch, and violets, leading to hints of wet slate, tilled soil, and mossy tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is generous and juicy with ripe, rounded tannins and bags of freshness, finishing with a spicy kick. "
