Its Origins
Craggy Range began with the desire to create a legacy. When Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997 he was introduced to Steve Smith, MW. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand; the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. The two men made an important decision from the beginning - to select and source the best land in the country, and to plant the vines perfectly suited to that soil and climate. The winery - one of the most technically advanced ever built in New Zealand - is known for uncompromising standards and meticulous craftsmanship.

Oak is barely there, and there’s a lovely almond flavour and texture, a little green olive, tight acidity, perhaps some ripe lemon in the mix too. Some flint and firmness, and a particularly good finish, flavour and chalk and citrus zest. It’s a beautiful wine."
