2024 Craggy Range Hawkes Bay Rose
Grape
Mainly Tempranillo and Merlot
Its Origins
Craggy Range began with the desire to create a legacy. When Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997 he was introduced to Steve Smith, MW. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand; the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. The two men made an important decision from the beginning - to select and source the best land in the country, and to plant the vines perfectly suited to that soil and climate. The winery - one of the most technically advanced ever built in New Zealand - is known for uncompromising standards and meticulous craftsmanship.
What The Critics Say
Winemaker notes on current 2024 vintage
"Bright, pale salmon in colour, the aromas lead with notes of floral, ripe melon, and crushed stones—a distinct savoury thread with ripe red berries, pomegranate seeds, and citrus peel. Moreish, it glides across the palate yet is bone dry and finishes with a clean mineral line—a delicious and sophisticated release. Cellaring: 1-3 years. Food Match: A fresh watermelon and prosciutto summer salad with fresh basil."
