2024 Wooing Tree Blondie Blanc de Noir

A word-of-mouth classic, the 'Blondie' is like a Rose but with a lighter hue. With a slight blush of colour, this is one of the country's few Vin Gris or Blanc de Noir, which means an almost white style that is made from a red grape like Pinot Noir. Such lightness of colour is achieved by pressing the pure juice straight off the skins. Different and delicious, the Blondie is a gem!

What The Critics Say

Winemaker notes on current 2024 vintage

"This unique Blanc de Noir was made from 100% Pinot noir grapes, grown on our family owned vineyard. Ripe hand picked fruit and gentle winemaking have given a wonderfully balanced wine. The elegant champagne colour resulted from minimal skin contact prior to a gentle whole bunch press. The juice was fermented in stainless steel to retain the varietal and fruit characteristics. The wine shows delightful aromas of white peach, tropical fruit and orange blossom with pink grapefruit, honeysuckle and a touch of lime on the palate. Best served slightly chilled."

94/100 Raymond Chan Reviews, Candice Chow (2023 vintage)

"Bright, even, very pale peach pink. The nose is full and appealing, with lush aromas of strawberry, cherry and rose petals. Light-bodied, aromas of strawberry and cherry show depth of flavour, lingering with rose petals fragrance. The acidity is refreshing, an excellent companion to the fruit and intense floral. This Blondie is lush and ready for summer. Serve as an aperitif or match with prosciutto-wrapped melon over the next 2-3 years. 100% Pinot Noir, fermented to 13.5% alc, 5.5 g/l RS. Vegan friendly."

93/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim (2023 vintage)

"Offering fabulous purity and poise, this delicately expressed wine shows apricot, lemon zest and white floral aromas with a hint of sweet raspberry. The palate displays excellent focus and flow, beautifully complemented by juicy fruit flavours and bright acidity. At its best: now to 2024. $30.00. www.wooingtree.co.nz. Oct 2021."
