2018 Mitolo Jester McLaren Vale Shiraz
Grape
Shiraz
Its Origins
James Halliday rates McLaren Vale's Mitolo as a Five Star winery: "Mitolo had a meteoric rise once Frank Mitolo decided to turn a winemaking hobby into a business. In 2000 he took the plunge into the commercial end of the business, inviting Ben Glaetzer to make the wines. Split between the Jester range and single vineyard wines, Mitolo began life as a red wine-dominant brand, but now also produces Rose and Vermentino."
What The Critics Say
93/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim
"Sweetly fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows Black Doris plum, mulberry, vanilla, clove and roasted hazelnut aromas. It’s equally attractive on the palate, displaying plump mouthfeel and fleshy texture, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2028. AU$25.00. www.mitolowines.com.au. May 2020." Drink 2020 - 2028
91/100 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
"Opaque ruby. Spice-accented dark berries, licorice and a smoky nuance on the expressive nose. Fleshy and broad in the mouth, showing supple texture and plush blackberry and cherry cola flavors that tighten up on the back half. The smoky note recurs on the long, seamless finish, which features gentle tannins and lingering spiciness." Drink 2022 - 2027
