Its Origins

Clémentine has been developed with the 4 families who make-up the Cooperative Saint-Sidoine in Puget-Ville, Var, France. The vineyard has a prime geographic location, with stony soil and a vine-friendly microclimate. Its vineyards cover 1,729 acres in the Côtes de Provence appellation. The Cooperative strives to achieve the best quality possible by honoring the terroir and following environmentally sound farming methods. Coeur Clémentine is the brainchild of St.Helena-born rosé fanatic, Steve Veytia, who has lived in France for the past twenty-five years, Pierre Arosteguy, 5th generation curator of Maison de Arosteguy in Biarritz, France and Franck Bywalski, a native of Biarritz who is an expert on international distribution. Frustrated at the over-inflated pricing for the best Côtes de Provence rosés, Steve set-out with Pierre to develop a Provence rosé that would be at the pinnacle of the price/quality scale. As it turns out, the trio quickly realized they were capable of producing far more interesting and complex creations than other wines within the pricing segment. The success of Clémentine has continued, the distribution was expanded across the EU, UK, USA and Australian markets.

What The Critics Say

Winemaker notes

"Unique composition of Cinsault, Grenache, Tibouren and Mauverde. A fruity yet mineral-driven wine, light in color but explodes on the palate. Our grapes are harvested in the early morning hours when the temperatures are coolest. We then send the grapes through a double-press with the first press splitting the skin. The second press, called a "soft-press" separates the fruit, leaving just the juice. Each grape is different however, skin contact is minimal and the juice is aged separately until the end of fermentation."

Matt Skinner, Sommelier (previous vintages)

"From one of the prettiest parts of France comes this delicious, dry rosé. Assembled from Grenache, Cinsault, Tibouren, and with a small shot of Syrah making up the numbers, expect a lush and juicy wine crammed with smells of wild raspberries, red currents, and dried woody herbs. On the palate it’s fresh as a daisy, bright red fruit is supported by crunchy acidity & theres a nice lick of tannin to finish. Bone dry, beautifully balanced, and just the thing for crusty baguettes, good cheese, and even better company!"

Wine Spectator (2011 vintage)

"Well-sculpted with plenty of fresh spiciness to the berry and red apple flavors. Ripe citrus notes accent the finish, which features touches of honey. Drink now. 2,000 cases made. K.M."
