Its Origins
The Haag family has been in wine for just a little while - since 1605, to be precise - and over that time they have been instrumental in the development of Brauneberger, an area that has been recognised as one of the Mosel’s best since the sixth century. At the helm today is the youthful Oliver Haag, whose father Wilhelm (son of Fritz) became recognised as a Riesling world leader, awarded the deceptively simple title of Winegrower of the Year in 1994. Oliver himself has at his back a full oenological training as well as extensive experience with a number of leading Riesling producers. With results so superb they effectively define a modern classic style of Mosel Riesling, it seems clear that the Haag family’s future in wine may be as sure as it’s past.

“This replaces the dry Brauneberger Riesling and is a cuvee of 80% Juffer, plus small quantities from the steep Juffer-Sonnenuhr and Klostergarten sites. A wealth of wildflower and jasmine aromas and a dancing, light-footed touch make this barely mediumbodied dry riesling a delight. Plenty of peachy fruit and wet stone minerality right through the long and very clean, spicy finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”

"The 2023 Riesling Brauneberg J, harvested in the Juer, Juer Sonnenuhr and Brauneberger Klostergarten, oers a yeasty reduction with a lovely edge of wet walnut skin. The palate almost tingles with freshness, presenting a super-slender, beautifully zesty prole with an enticing element of pithiness.
