En Primeur product: order now for arrival mid 2025.  Poesia is a quality offering from a new powerhouse Bordeaux family: Helene Garcin and husband Patrice Leveque. The fruit is grown on a high plateau of clay-limestone named after their old vine estate in Argentina. Rich but with beautiful definition and nuance, the Poesia will over-deliver in the medium to long term. Unlike other retailers (who charge a second payment on arrival), our En Primeur prices are the total and final landed cost, including GST. With the changing economic situation and foreign exchange risk, we do this to ensure you have complete certainty over what you will pay.

Its Origins

Chateau Poesia was purchased by Helene Garcin and Patrice Leveque in early 2014. The estate was formerly known as Chateau Haut Villet. The name, Chateau Poesia, which translates as Poet, comes from the family's property in Mendoza Argentina where they produce wine from 13 hectares of old vine, un-grafted Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 1935. Helene Garcin continues to expand her vineyards. She also owns several other Right Bank estates including Chateau Barde Haut in Saint Emilion and Clos LEglise in Pomerol. The 9.7 hectare Right Bank vineyard of Chateau Poesia is planted to 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is well situated on a high plateau. Their terroir is clay and limestone soils. Their Right Bank estate has a total of 13.2 cultivated hectares. There are 9.7 hectares of vines located in St. Emilion and 4.5 hectares situated in Cotes de Castillon. The vines are average close to 30 years of age. However there are old vines. In fact, some of the vines are more than 70 years of age!

What The Critics Say

94-96/100 The Wine Independent, Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"The 2022 Poesia, 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It comes galloping out with energetic scents of black raspberries, fresh mulberries, and juicy black cherries, giving way to nuances of rose oil, truffle oil, and crushed rocks. The concentrated, full-bodied palate delivers thrilling tension, with layer upon layer of red and black fruits supported by velvety tannins, finishing very long and electric. Gorgeous! pH 3.39.

94-95/100 James Suckling

"Lots of graphite and purple fruit with salty and lavender undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, fine and beautiful. Excellent length."

93-95/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Poesia is a heady, opulent wine. Inky dark fruit, herbs, lavender and chocolate abound. In this vintage the Franc is up to 30% and that comes through in the wine’s distinctly savory profile. This exotic, flamboyant Saint-Émilion possesses tremendous aromatic presence to play off its opulent fruit. The oak needs to integrate, but then again, this is an en primeur sample. Frost lowered yields to 30 hectoliters per hectare instead of the more typical 45 or so." Drinking 2032 - 2047
