Its Origins

Craggy Range began with the desire to create a legacy. When Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997 he was introduced to Steve Smith, MW. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand; the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. The two men made an important decision from the beginning - to select and source the best land in the country, and to plant the vines perfectly suited to that soil and climate. The winery - one of the most technically advanced ever built in New Zealand - is known for uncompromising standards and meticulous craftsmanship.

What The Critics Say

93/100 James Suckling

"Perfumed and pretty with currants and black berries as well as hints of cedar. Medium-bodied with fine chewy tannins and a fresh and beautiful finish. A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot. Give it three or four years to come together but already pretty. Screw cap."
