Moscato d'Asti
Moscato d’Asti is a wine that men drink and pretend they don’t love it. (Our male staff are forced to regularly). Made from Moscato grapes in Italy’s Piedmont, the result is delightfully feminine: deliciously sweet, softly sparkling and light-bodied with defined aromas of peach, grape and every other fruit you could name. Balanced by fresh acidity this delicacy of flavour is achieved by the ‘Asti Method’ (also used for ubiquitous Asti Spumante - similar but not to be confused) in which steel tank fermentation is used, rather like Prosecco, but with chilling to preserve fruit flavours and chilling again to stop the ferment...with much sweetness still in the wine and alcohol at a mere 4.5-6.5% Alc. Great as an aperitif or light dessert wine and yes, boys, it’s even low alc!
