2021 Brennan Gibbston Gewurztraminer
Grape
Gewurztraminer
Its Origins
The Brennan Family first arrived in New Zealand from Ireland on the SS Otaki in 1877. Sean Brennan's father, Dr. Sir Murray Brennan, was born in Auckland and studied medicine at the University of Otago. He was always drawn to Central Otago and the family first purchased land here in the 1970’s. In 1994, the Brennan family bought a plot of land in Gibbston and began establishing the vineyard, planting some of the first vines in this region, and haven’t looked back.
What The Critics Say
18/20 Raymond Chan Reviews, Candice Chow
"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is fresh, with a pure expression of apple, pear, and a touch of rambutan interweaved with jasmine and fresh ginger. Medium-full bodied, aromas of apple, pear and rambutan lifted by fresh ginger and jasmine fragrant. The wine is clean and refreshing with a pure fruit expression, supported by lively acidity and oily texture. This clean style of Gewurztraminer shows a pure quality of fruit, spice and floral details with a moreish, refreshing finish. Match with sweet chilli prawns and dim sum over the next 3 years. Fermented in stainless steel to 13% alc, 6.64 g/l RS, aged on fine lees for 7 months. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Feb 2023 RRP $28 ."
