Its Origins

Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodrigue was established in 1994 The aim was to re establish old vineyards of native grape varieties in forgotten regions Wines produced in Navarra, Rueda, Alicante, Toro, Aragón, Valedorras and Cigales allowed the partners to study Tinto fino, Tinta de toro, Garnacho, Monastrell, MencÍa, Verdejo, Viura and Godello grape varieties in depth. The aim was to reflect a sense of place based most of all on good viticulture and outstanding growers.

What The Critics Say

92/100 Decanter, David Williams

"Prolific and gifted winemaker Rodríguez juggles fascinating projects all over Spain with remarkably consistent results. His Verdejo (with 10% Viura) is brilliantly done, wonderfully clean and pure, and racy, with just enough of the spicy-bitter twist to complement the juicy tropical fruit flavours and lime."

90/100 RobertParker.com, Luis Guttierez

"The 2021 Basa is the entry-level white from Rueda, produced with 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura, with 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.43. It fermented and matured exclusively in stainless steel. 2021 was very rainy but was healthier than 2020, and the wines from 2021 have good freshness. This is balsamic with notes of bay leaf and a medicinal touch. It's light to medium-bodied, balanced and fresh. There are 494,500 bottles of this."
