A unique opportunity to join a Chardonnay masterclass with Hawkes Bay's undisputed expert in the variety, Tony Bish.

Thirty eight years ago, Tony Bish put classy Chardonnay on New Zealand’s vinous map. As chief Winemaker at Sacred Hill, he produced some of the country’s finest Chardonnays. In 2013 he launched his own label, Tony Bish Wines. Tony's specialty is sleek, sassy Chardonnays that are often fermented in glorious egg-shaped fermenters. This technology is no fad. Extremely costly, these concrete and wooden egg fermenters give his wines a richer, rounder texture.

Just for us, Tony will bring along some older vintages out of his cellar. This library stock means you can compare his famous Heartwood and Skeetfield Chardonnays with a back vintage — both from legendary seasons! Tony will be showcasing the newest addition to his portfolio, the Two Terraces Chardonnay, an acclaimed single vineyard for high achieving Chardonnays.  Lucky attendees will also taste two vintages of his hallowed Zen bottling, one of the few super-premium Chardonnays in New Zealand to regularly overdeliver at a $150 price!

Wines to be tasted are: Heartwood Chardonnay 2018 and 2024: Golden Egg Chardonnay 2023, Skeetfield Chardonnay 2021 and 2022; Two Terraces Chardonnay 2023 and Zen Chardonnay 2018 and 2020.
