Now on super sale. A delicious blend of Pinot Gris and Viognier. Just off dry, it is not too sweet but all about texture and aromatic nuance. Co-fermented aromatic blends like this are rarely seen in NZ, but the few on the market are popular with those in the know -- and quick to sell out.
$19.99 in mixed 6+ or $22.99 per bottle

Its Origins

Reydan and Roger Weiss first fell in love with the beauty of Te Awanga when visiting from Germany in 2001. Together they envisaged owning a state-of-the-art winery, merging the traditional values of wine making with an innovative approach and contemporary style to produce exceptional wines to savour and enjoy. With the majestic elephant as their namesake and nestled against a backdrop of rolling hillsides, Elephant Hill spans over 25 hectares of vineyards producing classical, aromatics whites and world-class reds, helmed by winemaker Steve Skinner.

What The Critics Say

93/100 Cameron Douglas MS

"A refreshing, fruity and exotic fruits bouquet with aromas of white nectarine and green pear, white spice and apricot stone, there’s a fine lees quality adding breadth and enticement. Youthful, fresh and reflecting both varieties. Silky textures touch the palate first with layers of spice and warmth from the alcohol then flavours of white fleshed fruits. Spices and warming alcohol build in weight while acidity offers contrast and freshness. Balnaced, well made and ready to drink from 2022 through 2026+." Drink 2022 - 2026+

"Bright, even, pale straw-yellow. The nose is fresh, with citrus, apple, pear and a suggestion of stonefruit and melon, interweaved white floral and a touch of white spice. Medium-full bodied, vivid aromas of apple, pear and citrus peels fill the palate, unfolding melon, stonefruit and white floral. The fruit is concentrated and voluminous. The creamy mouthfeel flows along with a dusty phenolic texture and lively acidity. This is a vibrant and generous white blend with excellent concentration, acidity and texture. Match with pulled pork and baked fish over the next 3 years. Fruit from Sea vineyard in Te Awanga, a blend of 55% Pinot Gris, 45% Viognier, whole bunch pressed, fermented and aged on light lees in tank for 20 months."
