Primitivo
Its Origins
During 40 years of wine making and research into the wines of Puglia, Cantina Coppi is closely linked with promotion and enhancement of this southern Italian region. The family concentrates on native vines with special characteristics, a precious heritage of resources to preserve. According to the family philosophy, making a good wine means following an unbridled passion, and every day brings a rediscovered love for their own land.
What The Critics Say
5 Stars The Wine Writer, Angie Atkinson (2018 vintage)
"Made from Primitivo taken from three vineyard locations, Serri district, Turi, and Apulia. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and rested in bottle for 10 months before release. Unlike some Primitivo’s that are all baked fruit and not much else, this wine has a lovely lifted acidity that takes it to next level delicious. Bursting with ripe blackberry, plum, blackcurrant and sweet spice, the dusty tannins and lingering fruit driven finish compel you to take another sip."
90/100 James Suckling (2018 vintage)
"A juicy, sweet-fruited primitivo with some dried strawberries, plums and blackberries. Hints of peppercorn and dark spices, too. Plump and soft on the palate coated with plenty of dark plums and cherries. Well balanced and easy to approach. Drink now."
