Fallet Dart Rosé Champagne Anthocyane NV

An incredibly classy dry Rosé Champagne from a boutique grower. Anthocyanes are the pigments responsible for the colour of red grapes. The Fallet family village of Charly-sur-Marne is one where the red grapes dominate, and here they are 100% of the blend. Pinot Meunier offering effortless and charming fruit, while Pinot Noir backs it up with velvet glove power. From their 'private collection' range, the Anthocyane is a big step up from their standard Rosé. The colour comes from the difficult maceration technique (like Cristal Rosé) and this premium selection is aged for an extra year, so it delivers all that deliciousness with even more complexity, elegance, line and length. So stylish, the Anthocyane Rosé is absolutely incredible value at the price.

Its Origins

The Fallet family comes from a long line of winegrowers that can be traced back to 1610. Claude Fallet and Pierre Fallet, nicknamed “the eldest”, are the earliest winegrowers found in the family papers. From 1903 on, Louis Fallet was awarded several prizes for the “elegance” of his wines and the mastery of his vineyard. From the start the Fallet family wanted to be a shining example amongst the champagne houses. Married in 1953, Geneviève née Dart and Gaston Fallet united their surnames to create the brand Fallet-Dart in 1970. From 1985 to 2016, Daniel and Gérard Fallet with Francine and Dominique, their respective wives, made the family business prosper. The family affair expanded from 5000 to 160000 bottles sold. The buildings were enlarged and the wines started earning themselves a name. Today, Adrien and Paul continue to perpetuate their forefathers’ values: originality and quality, innovation and respect for champagne traditions, to offer you champagnes with character that are renowned prizewinners worldwide.

What The Critics Say

95/100 Cameron Douglas MS

"Outstanding. A deep salmon almost orange hued appearance, the bouquet is equally intense with strawberry rich scents, raspberry and cherry layered between an autolysis of brioche and oatmeal fruit biscuit. Crisp, firmly textured and dry, flavours of red berries reflect the bouquet, there’s floral red tea layer adding complexity and depth, the autolysis is fine and persistent. A lovely example with floral and fruit finesses and charm, well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2030."

Winemaker notes

"With its honest radiant colour, this wine has an attractive tint of pink coral. Its effervescence is subtle, fed by a chain of numerous tiny bubbles. The nose is wonderfully fresh and flowery with a fruity bouquet recalling citrus fruits and red berries, which develops into spicy notes. On the palate the savours are balanced between the smell and the taste. The red berries with hints of wild strawberries are underlined by blood oranges and spices like saffron. The finale in the mouth is long and expressive. — Anthocyanes are the pigments responsible for the pinkish red or even bluish colour of some fruits. Grapes with black skins, which is the case of both Pinot noir and Meunier, have a high concentration of anthocyanes. Due to being macerated for several days, the bluish skins gently transfer their colour to the juice. All sorts of different hues of red and pink are obtained through this method as are the fruit and spicy essences. Making the cuvée ”Rosé Anthocyane” has given Adrien and Paul a chance to express their creative spirit by making a rosé champagne which is both refined and characteristic of their new range. Light and airy, this champagne goes as well as with an appetizer than with a dish, such as dried or smoky ham and basil’ wraps, cherry tomatoes and ricotta’ bruschettas, but also with grilled red meat in summer time. In dessert, this cuvée will easily match with citruses and red berries such as red and black currant’ macaroons, citruses soberts, a strawberry charlotte or a raspberry and lime’ crumble."
