2023 Massolino Moscato d'Asti

Moscato
Its Origins
Massolino are among the foremost Barolo producers, with deep history in Serralunga d'Alba. Giovanni Massolino founded the estate in 1896 and was also the first to bring electricity to his village. Son Guiseppe and daughter Angela were likewise ahead of their time, in 1934 extending holdings in what are now regarded as some of Barolo's best crus - Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda. Whilst channelling their tradition, Massolino also utilise the heavier clay soils of Serralunga to bring a satisfying breadth, density and structure to their Barolo’s - which, balanced against their extreme refinement and expressive clarity - make them almost incomparable for the price.
What The Critics Say
93/100 Huon Hooke (2017 vintage)
"A very fragrant, sweetly-scented muscat aroma. Quite high residual sugar, but balanced. Very clean, well-made and fresh. Textbook moscato."
16.5/20 Jancis Robinson MW (2022 vintage)
"Mid straw, hardly sparkling. Real edge to this wine. Michael Broadbent would have loved it! Apples and pears and a structure rather than a simple mouthwash."
