2021 Cornacchia Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Casanova
Grape
Montepulciano
Its Origins
In the province of Teramo the estate dominates the fertile valley of the Vibrata, lying at 240 meters above sea level. The soil is calcareous and stony which is excellent for drainage. The moderating breezes from the sea which is 15 km from the estate allow for perfect ripening. Baron Filippo Cornacchia stated growing Montepucliano vines at the end of the 19th Century and is considered the pioneer in the aging and bottling of Montepulciano in Abruzzo. Cornacchia currently has 32 hectares of vineyard.. The Le Coste vineyard has full southern exposure with its own special microclimate .Vines are 30 to 40 years old. Only grapes coming from this vineyard are used.
What The Critics Say
91/100 James Suckling
"Dried flowers, cherries, sage and tobacco on the nose. Full-bodied, with savory and mineral layers framed by firm tannins. Excellent balance and freshness. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
91/100 Wine Enthusiast, Alexander Peartree
"This rich black-cherry-hued Cerasuolo presents more like a light-bodied red. Its dense aromas of red cherry and blackberry are peppered with highlights of hibiscus and clove. The palate is juicy yet grippy, with the broad structure balance by driving acidity."
