Robert Parker called the Soumade winemaker Andre Romero a "superstar of Rasteau", and the estate's basic red is not just "a classic Côtes-du-Rhône, [but] THE classic Côtes-du-Rhône." This reputation is enhanced by their location in Rasteau, where their proximity to the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape means they can't charge anything like the prices they deserve. Packed with lush fruit and full body, these hugely satisfying reds are increasingly hard to keep in stock.
